Occupancy Sensor NP BW 02.00

NP BW 02.00 occupancy sensor is a personal sleep and respiration monitor designed for remote patient monitoring, when observing a client/patient who MUST stay in bed. The respiration monitor is extremely practical. One of the biggest advantages of the NP BW 02.00 sensor is that there is no need to attach the sensor to the patient - therefore the patient feels no discomfort. The sensor need only be placed under the bed or on the bed side. It will collect the breathing patterns of the patient and then transmit them on a receiving device. The receiving device may be a smart phone or a data server, depending on the selected application and user interface.

Reasons for Remote Patient Monitoring:

  • a bedridden patient who needs to be checked periodically; to ensure they are actually in bed and have not fallen out of bed
  • a senior citizen living alone, who must stay in bed at night and should not leave bed for a long period
  • respiration and pulse rates and / or other vital signs that must be collected by a remote doctor
  • a patient who wants to gain more information about their sleep patterns which may include sleep apnea symptoms
  • a remote patient monitoring system needed in general wards to monitor the patients in their beds
  • a different scenario

Advantages of the Remote Respiration Monitor:

  • Access to a patient's vital signs from another location
  • 24/7 monitoring of a patient's conditions
  • Comfort -No need for a patient to wear Fall or other sensors
  • No need to worry about the battery life of sensor

Operating as a Sleep Apnea Monitor

Since the sensor is able to read a patient’s breathing, it is possible to use the device as a sleep apnea monitor. The Bed Watcher differs from existing sleep apnea monitors in the way it collects data. Regular apnea monitors typically uses a chest or abdominal belt, or a nasal flow sensor to record a patient’s respiration. All these sensors must be worn by the patient when sleeping. By contrast, the Bed Watcher does not require direct contact with the patient and is able to collect data remotely, giving the same accuracy as the contact sensors mentioned above.

Easy Sensor Installation

The sensor is typically installed on a bed side, on a wall nearby the bed or under the bed. It is powered from the household electrical network via an AC/DC adaptor. The sensor collects and processes data from the patient and then sends it over to the data server for further distribution or directly to a supervisor's smart phone. The status of a patient is available for the supervisor to review at any time. Conditions that require an immediate reaction produce an alarm signal on the supervisor's device.
