History
Since 1998 Mr. Terje Hauan - a Norwegian serial entrepreneur - has been working closely with Russian companies and research institutions when he first came in contact with the UWB community at Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in 2005. Initial and later investigations have revealed that no other universities, institutions or companies world wide can match the desired sensor competence and technological know-how possessed by the individuals that constituted the UWB community at MAI. Based on their advanced research and solutions within the field of remote monitoring of heart and respiration rate, as well as pulse wave velocity, Mr. Hauan started to formalize technological cooperation with MAI and thus NanoPulse, Inc. was founded in September 2007 in order to commercialize new UWB technology with people who keep the strongest expertise in UWB technology in Russia.
NanoPulse, Inc. performs the following activities:
- conducting scientific researches in the area of narrowband, wideband and ultra wideband RF signals;
- conducting full cycle R&D, prototyping, technology development, and other projects in order to create samples of new devices suitable for commercial production;
- conducting full cycle R&D, prototyping, technology development, and other projects based on the contracts with customers in Russia and worldwide.
New methodological and cirquit solutions developed in the company form the basis of the company patented know-how: the company has exclusive right on several Russian patents related to UWB technology.
There have been 3 stages NanoPulse, Inc. went through:
1. Building company portfolio (11/2007 – 06/2009)
At this stage all company efforts were devoted to making a variety of devices based on UWB technology suitable for demonstrating technology potential. Various solutions were presented during the biggest medical alert device exhibition in Germany, Medica with very good feedback from the market.
2. Prototyping the first commercial device (06/2009 – 12/2010)
At
this stage a project related to making a commercial Baby Monitor device
prototype has been started. The project went through product
definition, requirements specification, development and testing stages.
One device prototype is available at present.
3. Struggling with world finnancial crisis consequences (01/2011 - present)
World financial crisis did not allow the company to show up in the market. The company lost financial sources and personnel right before the first product trial series. Nevertheless the company shareholders have been actively trying to move forward and attract new investors which would be helping the company to go far beyond break-even point. Thank to the governmental support and own savings the company was able to come up with new products and in 2012 started commercial sales. Currently the company is expanding its business, working on increasing sales volume and not forgetting about developing new products.
